One life changing experience,

Katy Ratner gets of the airplane in California and the second she sees her father, she knows this trip is a mistake. She begged her mom to go to Peru, but her mom didn't want her to get in the way.

Katy finds this annoying, because she always used to go on these research trips with her mom, and she was never in the way, she helped. They were a team. But Katy starts to think differently when her mom completely abandons her for the entire summer instead of the planned two weeks.

Katy's father, The Rat, is in a band called Suck. As far as she's concerned, its noise and she can't stand it. Not to mention Sam Suck's daughter Lake has been put on the assignment of keeping her company even though she clearly doesn't want to.

The summer starts to come together little by little when Garth comes into the picture, even though he looks like a girl. Lake starts actually enjoying being around Katy, who she calls Beige and Katy starts enjoying it as well.

She finds herself liking the music and getting along with her father and his girlfriend.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes music, preferably punk or rock. It's a teen reader thats sure to have you sucked into a life where you can relate and enjoy. You just have to have the right rhythm.
