O.K
This book was O.K. I read it in my reading class. I thought the boy cried to much. Also the book was kinda boring at some parts.
The book is about a boy, Billy, and a relationship with his dogs. He really wants two red-hound dogs. He saves up his money for two years and finally gets two red-hound dogs. The dogs are small and most people think they won't good hunting dogs. But they end up the best hunting dog. Some mean boys, the Pritchard boys, say that their dog is better than Billy's and challenge him to try to catch a "ghost coon". The "ghost coon" is a very old coon who no one has ever caught. The Pritchard boys bet a dollar that Billy's dogs can't tree it and Billy bets they can. Billy trees the coon but the Pritchard boys say he has to kill it too. Billy doesn't want to kill it because the coon has been there for so long and he would feel bad.
Billy and his dogs also when a championship trophy and a money prize. Billy gives the money to his mom and dad. They use the money to move to town so they can get a better education.
This book has some very sad parts. A lot of people cried in my class at one part.
