Who is Lucas? He is a mysterious boy. Meets a girl. This is the story of a girl telling her story about meeting a very strange boy. He takes her on journeys and gets her a a bit of trouble. Everyone except the girl is against Lucas. He is a trouble maker in their eyes and they want him out off of their island. Brooks is an amazing author. Great book for teens. Life changing, heartbreaking and breathtaking. Sometimes you aren't even sure if Lucas is real...until he is gone. It got a few tears out of me, and I got lost in it for days until it was over. Unbeleivably truthful story of a teenage girl who falls in love with a boy who helps her find her way into adulthood. It could happen to anyone. Through the eyes of a teenager, the world is so cruel, but maybe thats just how it really is and adults have learned to deal with it. This book pulls you into what it was like at that age, and if you are that age, you caould possibly relate to it. It is possible to easily get lost in a book like this and never come out of it until it is over, then you don't want it to be over. The ending was not to my liking. I wish Lucas could have lived, but life threw things at him that he couldn't deal with. It shows a lesson that love is stronger than anything. And that you never know what may be thrown at you, but you have to be ready for anything. Whether it be strange, painful, stupid or easy. Be prepared and never underestimate the power of love and life.
