Historical Adventure worth your time

True story of a backcountry ranger in King's Canyon and Sequoia National Park. Compelling read, Eric takes you back and forth between the 1996 search for the ranger and his upbringing, personal challenges, and love for the outdoors. Abbeyesque, Ranger Randy Morgensen fancied himself a back to nature kind of guy, and live the rough life he did, but true to his nature, he didn't sacrifice any of his mores to have money, modern convenience, or any of our urban nicities most so enjoy today. However, as he aged he questioned if many of the ideals and beliefs he held so dear were worth the state he found himself, mid fifties, near broke and making choices that hurt close friends.

This fact based, interview ladden book reads quick and keeps you interested to see what happens next. For any nature and ourdoors lover it's a great view into the lives of those who've gone full tilt into the outdoors life many of us long for don't quite know how to achieve, and gives us a glimpse of the challenges they face and commeraderie they share by doing so. If you enjoy backpacking, camping, hiking, and share any of the concerns voiced by Edward Abbey, John Muir, Aldo Leopold, you'll enjoy this action packed and educational tale. Looking forward to his next book.
