Not a narrative history; roams all over the subject matter; absolutely clear explanations of cause and effect; covers a variety of topics; short, makes you feel like you learned a lot without getting academic; good but not what I expected. Ends at Three Kingdoms period, brief mentions of Cao Cao, Dong Zhuo, etc. Worst chapters are Literature and maybe Law.
