About me

Since October 1994, when we became independent again following a management buyout, Canongate Books has emerged as one of the most dynamic publishing houses in Britain. Based in Edinburgh but with a distinctly international outlook, Canongate continues to nurture and publish new talent from around the world, whilst retaining the essence of the Scottish Canon.

We have also got a Canongate Official BookCrossing Zone (OBCZ). Anyone is welcome to drop and and pick up or drop off books, though a BookCrossing journal entry on the relevant book (BCID) on BookCrossing would be much appreciated. Our bookshelves are located on the ground floor of the Oliver & Boyd building, Tweeddale Court, 14 High Street. We're opposite the Scottish Storytelling Centre. The doors are open usually between 8.30am and 7.00pm, Monday - Friday.
