I have a few Dale Brown books and picked this one off the hotel bookshelf. A good holiday read but probably a little too formulaic a series by now. Maverick commander ignores orders, gets demoted, warns of calamity, found to be right, saves the day (well, exacts retribution).

Awesome. Written in that gritty soldier's style that just smacks of authenticity.

We were all blown away by "Bravo Two Zero" and "The One That Got Away" when they came out but the rumblings of inaccuracies made it on to our military grapevine pretty quickly. This book sets the record straight after four years of legal wrangling between the author and the MoD (and tells you about the ludicrous legal aspect too).

An "unofficial history", the author is a former Royal Marine Lt. Col that you may recall from appearances on the BBC News when they get expert opinion etc. I found myself a little overwhelmed (as a holiday read) with lots of locations, names and times so I switched off to them somewhat and digested the recounting of the action itself. An important book, reflected in the fact that HRH Prince Philip provides the foreword.
