I really liked this book a lot - very well done, funny, interesting and witty. Greg is a great character, and I laughed out loud more than once.

A lot of fun - real characters, real voices, an interesting story. Total fun for older YA - very close to Cohn's Pop Princess.

I liked the writing style of this book, but it never really grabbed me and I never got totally involved. A lot of it reminded me of "Some Kind Of Wonderful" - the guy being in love with a girl without really knowing much about her, the scary boyfriend figure - it just didn't come to the same realizations in the end. I think this parallel may have been purposeful though. Anyway, I'd be interested to see if there was an upcoming sequel just because of the ... at the end.

Cover imageThe Joys of Love

by Madeleine L'Engle

This book should not have been published - it had remained an unpublished manuscript for many many years, and that's how it should have remained. Madeleine L'Engle is one of my favorite authors - and this one was very disappointing.

As enjoyable as the first, if a little fluffy. A much better series than Drama Club in it's overall take I think. Fun and great for theatrically minded kids, but a good enough story that those not in the know will enjoy it as well.

I really like this series a lot. It's a totally different take on vampire mythology than other books I've read, and the whole concept is very intriguing. Not the best written books I've read (especially the introductory catch up session at the beginning of this particular one) but fun and enjoyable, as they will be for any older YA.

Cover imageStop in the Name of Pants! (Confessions of Georgia Nicolson)

I love the Georgia Nicolson books, but this one did not do a thing! The story was the same at the beginning as it was at the end and not a whit of progress was made. Overall, a reader will probably be able to have skipped this book entrirely and still know what's going on. The three is only cause Georgia makes me laugh.

Very well done - interweaving mythology and a strong, almost modern voiced female lead in Helen. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. Great for all of YA.

At first I thought I really liked this. And then halfway through I only sort of liked it, and then at the end I really didn't like it at all. But, I still think YAs would like it, especially if they like theatre and all the drama that goes along with it.

It took about halfway really, to get into it, but I loved it. A totally fitting ending.
