My real name is Dona, but I'm known as cedarwaxwing in most online places I frequent. I taught students with special needs for 16 years before changing careers and ending up in IT. Besides reading I love to watch films, write, cook and identify birds. I like most films except except westerns and serve on the board of directors of a local film club. I've kept journals since my teenage years and began blogging in 2001, but never really had a focus. I like to cook, but I'm not all that good at it. I find it boring to follow recipes, which sometimes results in a disaster, but sometimes creates yummy food that cannot really be replicated. I call myself a birder, but I'm more of an incidental birder. If I'm somewhere there are cool birds, I pay attention to them, but I don't go out birding regularly anymore. My favorite bird is a cedar waxwing because of their comical looks and gregarious nature.
