Christine Kringle is a funny, warm, quirky look at the world of Christmas Gift bringers. Perhaps the opening paragraphs will give you a flavour of the book:
The popular myth, that most people choose to believe, is that there is only one Santa Claus - an immortal being who brings presents to all the children in the world in one night. the reality, as anyone who is a member of the Yule Dynasty knows, is that there are, actually, many, many Santas - all with different names, all servicing their own countries or regions - and they are not immortal at all.
Granted, the average male life expectancy of a Yule is around 270 years but these Santas operate family businesses and the job is handed down from father to son.
This, in essence, was the problem that was facing the Kringle family, the USA branch of the Yule Dynasty, as they flew towards the final approach of Korvatunturi Reindeerport in Finland for the annual Yule Conference. Kriss Kringle, one of the busiest and most hardworking members of the Yule Dynasty, due to the large population of the United States, had no male heir. He and Mrs Kringle had been blessed only with a daughter, Christine, who was now fourteen years old.
It was time, as Ma Kringle had said, before they left home, "to bite the bullet." This year, Kriss was going to propose a motion that females be allowed to inherit the mantle of Christmas Gift Bringer.
